Graham Feest – Chariman

Graham is an experienced road safety practitioner and now a road safety consultant, having been County Road Safety Officer for Northamptonshire, Head of Road Safety for the Institute of Advanced Motorists and Secretary of AIRSO.

He speaks regularly at conferences and devises interactive workshop sessions for various organisations and groups. He is Chairman of the National Road Safety Committee, Road Safety Adviser to the ADI National Joint Council, an Associate of The Richworks where he acts as their Head of Road Safety and Events, a member of the Parliamentary Advisory Council on Transport Safety (PACTS) and a judge of the Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards.

Deputy Chairman – Karl Satloka

Karl was born in Linz Austria in 1948. Followed his parents into the UK in 1952, who were already here as displaced persons. Left school at 15 with no formal educational qualification. Found employment in the West Yorkshire Textile Industry. Became an Associate of the Textile Institute.

Became a Road Safety Professional as an ADI in 1987. On the way collected several industry accredited qualifications. In 2000 took on the role of MSA North East Regional Chairman, and recently IMTD Deputy Chairman. Involved now in the fleet market including Large Goods Vehicles, also heavy involvement in the Police diversionary/intervention courses.

Secretary – Kathy Higgins

Kathy has always had a passion for road safety and has progressed from being a franchisee of a national driving school to running her own multi-car driving school. She holds all but one of the advanced driving qualifications, is an examiner for the DIAmond Test as well as the RoSPA Road Test.

She also helps run the speed awareness schemes both in Merseyside and Greater Manchester, Cheshire and North Wales as well as being a registered Fleet Trainer, SAFED for vans trainer, an ORDIT registered ADI Trainer, and a Master Coach with the Institute of Leadership and Management.

Treasurer – Mike Yeomans

Mike, educated at Universities, Cambridge and Manchester. Trainer in Transportation and a Freight Haulage CPC holder. Teaching and psychology qualifications, in driver education.

Director of Training UK (Hull), contracted to Hull City Council, KWL, as ‘Safe Driver Manager’ assisting industry with driver and company policy.

Developed driver assessment systems, Health and Safety adviser on Risk Policy, National Diversionary Schemes, internal/external training for all types of vehicles, including Driver CPC, Education/training for the elderly driver. A1 assessor, developing NVQ (QLS) courses.

Committee Member – Andrew Burgess

Andrew’s training began in the engineering business qualifying in both aircraft engineering and car mechanics. Both of these skills have been of great value to him over the years especially in the driving industry.

He qualified as a driving instructor at Haltemprice School of Motoring in Hull and then went on to manage the Kennings Motor School also in Hull. After that period he became a self employed instructor teaching for over 40 years, attaining a Grade 6 qualification.

Andrew then went on to Hull College and worked towards his 7307 and furthering his education at Bishop Burton Collage and completing his teaching diploma at Huddersfield University.

Now working in all aspects of driver training with Hull City Council, KWL, taxi testing,  CPC,  mini bus and coach and is fully engaged in all the diversionary courses with the Humberside Police.

Andrew is pleased to be the Chairman of the Hull and East Riding Driving Instructors as well as an active member of the MSA committee North East.

Committee Member – Charles Morton

Charles, prior to his retirement in 2012, spent the last ten years of his career with Driving Standards Agency, the last six being as Registrar of Approved Driving Instructors.  Before this being Area Manager Midlands and Eastern responsible for delivery of the Driving Test, maintenance of Test Centres, management of the Driving Examiners and an Administration Team.

Previously he spent thirty years in the Retail Sector in various operational field roles, ultimately a Divisional Executive responsible for sixty two Supermarkets.

In both the Public and Private Sector Charles had positions on numerous Boards responsible and accountable for delivery of key objectives and the financial well being of the business.

Committee Member – Toni Rust

Toni started teaching driving in London 1969 and joined the Approved Driving Instructors’ register. She worked with BSM and then started her own driving School in London and Essex.

She moved to Ireland in the mid ’80s and into commercial Fleet Training. She worked for various companies in Ireland then re-registered as an ADI with the DSA and became a Fleet Trainer, subsequently starting her own Irish Fleet Training Company, now working in both the UK and Ireland.

She is a Director of The Kildare Road Safety Committee, a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists, holds RoSPA Gold, Diamond Master Driver, and is a DIA Advanced Examiner.
